MLC Banksia Program Leader

Residential position – MLC Banksia, Gippsland Lakes, Victoria

Full time fixed term position – Term 3 and 4, 2022.

MLC Banksia is seeking to add a dynamic and skilled Program Leader with a passion for educating young women in the outdoors to join their progressive team located at our Gippsland Lakes site, commencing Term 3, or earlier by mutual agreement. This semester-long vacancy is to replace a staff member on Long Service Leave.

Methodist Ladies’ College is one of Australia’s most respected and innovative schools, with over 2,100 students from our Early Learning Centre to Year 12. MLC Banksia is located on the Banksia Peninsula, offering excellent access to the Gippsland Lakes and environs.  MLC Banksia provides curriculum based sequential Education Outdoors programs for students from Years 5 – 8.

The nature of the rich learning environment of this opportunity would suit the highly motivated graduate or freelancer looking to refine their educational focus and gain stability to their employment, or an established outdoor educator seeking further diversity to add to their professional practice and program base.

This position, based at MLC Banksia with a significant contribution also to the MLC Marshmead expedition program, combines a traditional centre-based Outdoor Education role with a strong focus on the educational intent and links to College, as well as National, academic and wellbeing curriculums.

The MLC Banksia Program Leader is responsible for program setup and delivery, maintenance, and ongoing development and innovation of a MLC Banksia year level program.

The successful applicant will possess outdoor qualifications and experience (sea kayaking and sailing desirable) together with a solid grounding in environmental education. First aid qualification is desirable.
